Something Noteworthy

Many wonder how celebrities and idols get to live their dream and still earn a lot while doing so. Many also wonder how businessmen get to buy everything they have ever wanted now, even the most luxurious things, despite the fact that years ago, these businessmen were just as ordinary as we are now.

Success stories vary. Some may have come from an already rich family or company, but most started from scratch. I always thought that there must be something that these people do or say that made them as successful as they are now. Then I wondered, “What is the real secret to one’s success?”

Being the curious person that I really am, I googled for an answer. There are tons of sites offering, well, decent answers. But there’s something missing. Then, I coincidentally opened a site called Finest Quotes. It was so random that I didn’t even think that it’d give me anything significant. But, as I was browsing through their wide variety of topic choices, “Success” caught my attention. It was like a treasure chest full of answers to my question stated earlier.

“There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs.” – unknown

I really thought it was funny that I even giggled a little when I read it. But after a while, it made me think. That really made sense, eh. There are thousands of people finding for shortcuts to success. Advertisements like “Get a thousand dollars richer tonight! Join us!” or “Earn your first six-digit paycheck from us!” is an old propaganda already. We all know that these doesn’t freakin’ work, but there are still people who take chances.

When you ride an elevator, all you have to do is to get in, push a button, wait, then get out. But if you take the stairs, every step is a struggle. If you stop stepping, you won’t get anywhere near to where you wanted to go. Simply put, the quote above only reiterates that we all must do something to be successful.

If you decided to take the stairs, there will come a time that you will feel very tired and you might even think of giving up or riding the elevator instead, especially if you wish to go to the top floor of a skyscraper. Or maybe you will encounter different hardships and problems on your way up that will make the task even more difficult. I think it’s inevitable, but a mere state of mind can make the task a little bit lighter.

“Stay committed to your decisions, but flexible in your approach.” – Tom Robbins

Flexibility plays a huge role in achieving anyone’s desire to succeed. If we add up perseverance, dedication, drive, commitment, and all other positive attitudes, there ain’t no way one will fail.

Let’s say you’re halfway to the top of the skyscraper, then something blocked your way, will you decide to find another way to go up, or just quit it and resort to using the elevator? A lot of people will choose the latter, but will you be smart enough and brave enough to stick to what you committed to do – taking the stairs? I don’t know what you’d do if you are in this situation, but i assure you that wise people will find ways to continue taking up the stairs, even if it means more hardships and struggles. This shows flexibility. If you can’t find ways to continue what you started, then things like perseverance and drive won’t really matter since you can’t be flexible enough to adjust to the situation at hand.

The real successful celebrities and idols didn’t take overnight opportunities to get rich and famous. They went through rough trainings and very difficult situations to get to where they are now. Successful businessmen are they same. Their multimillion companies didn’t appear in just a snap of a finger. As most of them say, they poured blood and tears in their company for it to grow. It takes a lot of strength, courage, and effort to be as successful as they are now, but having them around makes us think that succeeding in whatever we do is never impossible.
